"We want more than a mere photograph of nature. We do not
want to paint pretty pictures to be hung on drawing-room walls. We want to
create, or at least lay the foundations of, an art that gives something to
humanity. An art that arrests and engages. An art created of one's innermost
heart." (E.M.)
Edvard Munch was a phenomenal Norwegian artist born December 13, 1863 and unfortunately died January 23 1944. One of his most famous paintings was The Scream. The Scream was one painting in a series called The Frieze of Life. All of the paintings in the series Munch explored the feelings of anxiety, love, melancholia, fear and death. Edvard Munch based his paintings on everything sad in his life. In my eyes Edvard's paintings seem very gloomy and creepy. But on the bright side, I enjoy the texture in The Scream and the blending was very well done in Anxiety. Edvard did a very good job painting the emotions he experienced in his life.
